Greetings. The golden-tongued prince of preachers, Charles H. Spurgeon, once said, "If God calls you to be a preacher, don't stoop to be king"! Being a servant of the most high God is the greatest of all callings. Those who come to Bethany School of Missions will be made aware of this, if they have not already realised it. The greatest man that ever lived, even the very Son of God, was a servant. Paul says, "He emptied Himself .... and became a servant" (Phil. 2:7) The Master Himself said, "The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). This is the ethos and philosophy of Bethany; yea, its very heartbeat! When you come to Bethany, you will find that personal mentoring of each student will be one of its hallmarks. Academic excellence is maintained in every way, but the spirit of servanthood will be the main emphasis of our training. The mind of Christ makes the man (or the woman). Or shall we say, the crosscultural missionary. The most effective missionary is one who has a servant heart. The heart of Bethany's training program is imparting a servant heart through teaching, mentoring and demonstrating by example. Paul, the great apostle and missionary, expresses his own personal passion this way: "For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake" (2 Cor. 4:5). Welcome to Bethany and may you catch that same spirit of Christ in your endeavour to attain spiritual and academic excellence. |

Welcome in Jesus’ name to one of Asia, Africa, and Latin America’s premier centers of missionary training and education offering missiologically strategic, contextualized, and culturally sensitive training that continues to remain on the cutting-edge! The vision of Bethany International University (BIU) (a.k.a Bethany School of Missions (BSM)) is to reach the unreached peoples of the world, numbering over 3 billion with the love of God. These are found mainly in the countries between the latitudes of 10 and 40 degrees north and south of the Equator, known missiologically as the greater 10/40 window, an imaginary belt on the globe (also re-defined as the 5/55 Window). Our goal is to reach the unreached people’s found within the greater 10/40 Window nations, stretching from the Pacific through Asia and into Africa. The Philosophy of Bethany International University can be well understood in the following clusters of three's: |
